President & Founder
Melissa Christenson, president of Creative Training Resources, has over thirty years of progressive experience in learning and development encompassing needs assessment, curriculum design and development, program delivery and implementation, evaluation, and post-assessment. Melissa motivates learners and ensures learning retention and transfer by employing a variety of teaching techniques including coaching, case studies, simulations, assessments, group exercises, and hands-on practice.
Melissa had designed a variety of customized programs on topics such as communication skills, delivering exceptional customer service, interviewing techniques, interpersonal skills, presentation skills, management development, meeting management, time management, performance management, and train-the-trainer. She holds certifications in Pritchett Change Management, Achieve Global Management and Leadership development, Myers-Briggs, and Franklin Covey Time and Priority Management.
Prior to founding Creative Training Resources, Melissa was the worldwide training manager at Reebok International, where she implemented the corporate development strategy and oversaw all programs within The Reebok Professional and Management Development Center.
Melissa received both her Master of Education in Organizational Development and Applied Group Dynamics and Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources and Personnel Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has presented at the international conferences for the American Society of Training and Development and the Society for Human Resources Management. Speaking topics—such as getting management buy-in for learning, and bringing creativity and impact into the learning mix—reflect Melissa’s genuine interest in her work. She has also received three National Telly Awards for her video-based learning programs.
Sharon Currier is the lead trainer for CTR’s Interviewing, Sexual Harassment Prevention, and Leadership Development programs. She has over 25 years of experience as a senior executive and has partnered and consulted with a wide variety of organizations to offer a unique mix of HR, organizational development, strategic planning, leadership assessment, coaching, and training. She has an advanced certification in corporate coaching and is certified with the Hogan Leadership tool. Sharon has worked in a variety of industries from start-up to Fortune 100.
Juliann has been sharing her creative and energetic approach to training and development for over 25 years. She is a natural facilitator who is eloquent and artful at extracting important points of discussion, synthesizing ideas and summarizing themes. She is also a certified coach who is known as a trusted advisor and is sought after for her opinions and feedback on sensitive issues. Juliann received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her Master of Science degree in Training and Development from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Prior to joining CTR, Juliann oversaw the management development program at Monster.com. She is especially passionate about public speaking and is a past-president of Talk of the Town Toastmasters in Newton, Massachusetts. She was also invited to Peking University in China to provide feedback and coaching to MBA students during their final presentation assignments.
Gina has more than 20 years of project and team leadership directing multiple departments in complex organizations. She specializes in helping organizations increase results and performance through her expertise in organizational development, team facilitation, management and leadership development, interpersonal skills training, emotional intelligence, and performance consulting. She is also especially passionate about helping individuals learn how to manage their time and priorities. Gina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Bentley University and a Master of Science degree in Training and Development from Lesley University.
Heidi Parenti is the lead trainer for CTR’s business writing programs. Clients rave about Heidi’s ability to make the learning and content fun, engaging, and relevant. They also appreciate how she provides practical techniques that can be used for all types of business writing. In addition to teaching our corporate clients how to write more effectively, Heidi also has over 20 years of experience teaching English at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, New Hampshire. Heidi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in German with a concentration in Business from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science for Teachers in English from the University of New Hampshire. She is also currently working toward her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Administration at Southern New Hampshire University.
Joan Stearns Johnsen specializes in CTR's negotiation and mediation training programs. In addition to working for CTR, Joan is also a Legal Skills Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law where she teaches negotiation, mediation, and arbitration, including international arbitration. Joan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute and is certified by the International Mediation Institute. Joan is active in the leadership of the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution where she is the Chair of the Section of Dispute Resolution (2019-2020) and is also in the Leadership of the Litigation Section.
Joan is a frequent speaker and trainer on negotiation, mediation, and arbitration, and a member of the faculty of the ABA Dispute Resolution Section's Advanced Mediation Institute and Advanced Arbitration Institute.
